Newsome Racing: Season 15

Written By: Cody Johnson

Coming off their win in the season 14 NASRAC team challenge, Newsome Racing is back and ready to defend their title. This season, NR is stacked with talent. The loss of the quiet, but always competitive Grumpy, was definitely a blow to the team’s confidence, but the lineup of drivers for season 15 is quite capable of challenging for wins and titles. This is a look at Newsome Racing’s season 15 lineup:

    • JD Newsome : Newsome Racing’s namesake, JD is always a fierce competitor in all three series. His lack of time, however, has forced him to cut down his number of races in the lower series. No statement has been made by JD as to how many races, if any, he will run in the lower series. Coming off one of his best AAA seasons to date, JD will look to strike this season and get that elusive first AAA series title. The competition better look out.
    • Dinotuchi: One of the more talkative members of the team (sarcasm), Dino is one to watch out for. After his 4th place points finish in AA last season, Dino is back up to AAA and ready to put in a good run for NR. Dino is no stranger to the series, as he drove two full seasons in AAA in seasons 7 and 10. Dino is a proven champion (AA season 9) and he is ready for season 15.
    • Trevor Sells: Trevor is coming off of a championship run in A1 and he’s ready to take on the challenge of AA in season 15. Trevor was crazy good last season racking up 10 wins, 24 top 5’s, and 32 top 10’s in 36 races. He was an unstoppable force, even beating a proven AAA champion Black Mamba. Trevor is beginning his first double duty season in season 15 driving for both the AA1 and A series championships. Good luck to everyone in his way.
    • Geeman: Another one of the more quiet racers in the league, geeman is coming off of a strong season in A5 where he finished 6th in points with 3 wins. Geeman is back for a second term in the AA series this season. He picked up 3 wins in 36 races in his last AA season. Geeman will be one tough competitor out on the track this season.
    • Jlogracing: Not much is known about this racer. Jlogracing is usually around in the AAA series. After struggling last season, JLR is looking to have a great season 15.
    • May 24 2010: Coming off a strong season 14 in A5, May is ready to take on the challenges that AA has to offer. May had an impressive season 14 with 6 wins, 14 top 5’s, and 22 top 10’s in 24 starts. May finished the A5 season in a strong 2nd place (to teammate Cody Johnson). Get ready AA2 cause here May comes.
    • Greg B: In his first 2 full seasons, Greg has amassed 5 wins, 25 top 5’s and 41 top 10’s. He’s off to a great start. In season 14, Greg challenged for the AA1 championship, before falling short in the last few races of the season. He was a very consistent competitor and showed the competition that wins aren’t everything. Greg is ready to take on his first season in the top series and try to become the first rookie champion in AAA.
    • Harry_D: Harry had a very strong season in A4 last season, finishing 2nd in points to teammate Cody Johnson. He put together strong finishes all throughout the season with 4 wins, 20 top 5’s, and 26 top 10’s in 30 starts. With an average start of 6th and an average finish of 5th, Harry is a strong candidate for making the chase this season in AA. Harry is geared up and ready for another strong season in season 15.
    • Shane A. Ward: Shane is coming off of a great season in AA2 in season 14. He made the chase in AA and is ready to do the same thing this season, his first season in AAA. His competitiveness puts him as a legitimate contender to make the chase in season 15 AAA.
    • StewartsRaiders: SR finished 8th in points after making the chase for the A2 championship last season. Although SR was a clear competitor last season, he still has yet to score that elusive first win. Although this season in AA is sure to be tough, I believe that SR is up to the challenge, and that he will get that first victory this season. Most racers have a sophomore slump, but I don’t see it coming to this driver. Watch out for him on the track.
    • Cody Johnson: One of the more opinionated guys on the team, Cody is ready to make a stand in the AAA series this season. Cody had a great season 14 scoring 12 poles, 22 wins, 65 top 5’s, and 89 top 10’s in 114 starts (36AA, 78 A). He also took home the A4 and A5 championships, finishing 9th in his first full AA season with 4 wins. Cody is ready for the challenges that AAA holds, so look out because he’s coming.
