Newsome Racing Blindsided by Defections

After a solid season 13, and optimism going into the next season, Newsome Racing has been jolted by two offseason defections. First, after a championship run in A1, and lots of talk about Newsome stepping it up for Season 14, Juz88 (Justin Neyman), suddenly announced he was leaving Newsome with his championship to go to SLR. This was a surprise to team leader and future Hall of Famer JD Newsome, who stated, “This guy wins a championship, then leaves, then is a team leader after 1 successful season, hard to understand that one”. After the news, JD rallied the troops and made some signings to supplement the team and looked to right the ship. Then, just a few days ago, another stunning annoucement that PlatniumGamer2 is also leaving Newsome to join SLR. It appears that the new team leader for SLR is now poaching from his former team, as a source close to both stated an email was sent from Justin to JD telling him that he was soliciting PG2 to leave. To top it off, it appears that more than one team member from Newsome Racing was contacted about leaving the team to join SLR, according to the source.
When asked for comment, a visibly frustrated JD Newsome said, “I wonder who is gonna be next?”. There also has been little fanfare at SLR of these moves, just simple announcements. This is puzzling, as you would think with a new team leader there would be some excitement coming from SLR.
What will Season 14 hold for Newsome and SLR? Will it get ugly? Will it be a battle for a team championship? These questions will only be answered once the season begins.
