Team Comparisons to NASCAR
There has been much discussion as to which NASRAC team is like which NASCAR team. Here is my interpretation for all the teams and what would be their NASCAR counterpart. There are 10 NASCAR teams that I considered to compare for 8 NASRAC teams. The two I left out were Penske Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports. Special thanks for duffman228 and Tim Reeve for sparking the conversation. And congrats to kyle-rowdy-busch for surprisingly getting all but 2 correct.
1Up/Bailey Motorsports and Richard Childress Racing
Primarily, I see 1Up/Bailey as Childress after the death of Dale Earnhardt. Childress has had some success with wins here or there and a Daytona 500 win in Kevin Harvick. They’ve also been pretty consistent with a person in the Chase but there have been some seasons where Childress had no one in the Chase. 1Up/Bailey has a Daytona 500 victory in Giants and an AAA title in Flash, but there have been some seasons where they were nonexistent in the Chase.
Badmoonrisin R/T and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates
In the days where Dale Earnhardt Jr. was driving for DEI, the team was a force to be reckoned with and Badmoonrisin (once Y & F Motorsports) was arguably the 2nd best team in NASRAC (behind X2X). After recent struggles, both teams are reinventing themselves to try and become the successful teams they once were. And they both won the Daytona 500 this season.
Bupp Enterprises and Roush Fenway Racing
Bupp Enterprises now is like Roush Fenway Racing before Fenway. Both teams were consistently near the top when it came to overall team results. Both teams have lots of race wins. Both teams were dominant winning championships in the lower divisions, but somewhat lacking in winning championships in the top series. Even though Roush has two with Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch, there were plenty of missed opportunities throughout the years.
Henderson Racing and Red Bull Racing Team
duffman suggested this comparison and I agree with it. The drivers are usually in the 10-20 range in points and both teams get the occasional win. They have improved with every season, but still have a little ways to go to be a championship contender.
Newsome Racing and Stewart Haas Racing
I know Newsome Racing is a new team and it’s hard to measure the team yet but think about it. Both left good teams to form their own team and they both are enjoying instant success. Time will tell if they both are going to be winning titles.
Redline Motorsports and Michael Waltrip Racing
I have read some comparisons of Redline and Penske, but I disagree to a point. Penske is a rather established team that gets a couple wins per year and usually has someone in the Chase. Redline is a new team that still needs to create an identity in NASRAC. It’s hard to figure out where MWR is in NASCAR. They are a new team with 1 win and rarely have people finish in the top 10, but they are very consistent and are near the Chase positions. This is where I see Redline. They may not be in the Chase yet, but they are very close and are very consistent. A few more wins from the team and I’ll agree with the Penske claims.
Sith Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing
Rick Hendrick said that Gibbs has passed Hendrick and I think Sith has the best chance to pass X2X in being the top team. Many Sith guys are in the top 12 and constantly knock on the door of the championship and fighting for race wins. They are probably the closest of unseating the top team.
X2X Motorsports and Hendrick Motorsports
Both are on the top of the series and it doesn’t look like they are stepping aside anytime soon. Even if either team is in a rare “off” season, they usually have some wins and have multiple representatives in the Chase. I’m pretty sure most of us would wish to have their “off” seasons.
