Team Preview: Bupp Enterprises
Bupp Enterprises rose out of the ashes of MCM Motorsports in season 7. Since then the team has become a top contender for championships in all divisions. When you pick the team with the best chance to beat X2X, you pick BE. The team has won several AA and A championships but like most other teams continues its battle to break through and join X2X and 1Up/Bailey as AAA Champions. They’ve been close before, can this season be theirs?
Q&A
With all the offseason changes, how will they effect your team?
I’m not necessarily worried about the new rule changes. That won’t effect us compared to most teams because we pretty much were in line with those rules. JD’s move to his own team will affect the team more. JD is a great racer and will be a great owner so obviously this was an expected hit to the team, but we were prepared for a while and I’m confident with the people we have to move the team forward.
What are your predictions for your team this year?
This is our 5th season and we as a team have improved every season. Now that we had 4 people in the AAA chase last season and won more AAA races last season than probably the rest of the other seasons combined, season 12 as a team will be a failure if someone on Bupp Enterprises doesn’t bring that AAA title home. We hope to rely on our Team Challenge lineups and A and AA staff to be strong once again like seasons past.
Any drivers on your team you think will have a big year?
I like everyone on the team to do well, but if you want someone unexpected to be a title contender in AAA, Rodd Flagg is the name.
Who’s your biggest competitor this season?
I’d be lying if I didn’t say X2X was our biggest competitors. There didn’t seem to be any struggles before, during, and after the leadership transition and one could argue they are even better now. Sith and Newsome would also be big competition. Sith is always strong and Newsome has our info so I know all too well not to sleep on those new teams.
What’s your biggest concern going into this season?
I think our biggest concern is to actually get people into the chase. The last 10 races are more than likely a crapshoot and even the best can get unlucky and crash or do badly. This is likely to be the most competitive AAA season ever and it gets harder and harder to even get into the chase, much less win the title. So if we stay out of trouble and get good finishes, we can get into the chase and then with one or two lucky breaks along with great runs in the chase, one of us can win the title. It should be a great season.
