3 To go, AAA Chase Contenders and Pretenders

Contenders:

1st #72 X1X, X2X Motorsports, 5867 points,  1 win, 6 top 5’s, 11 top 10’s

X1X was one of two rookies in the chase this season, consistent finishes, along with picking up his first career win in AAA, throughout the chase have allowed him to capitalize on the bad luck of the drivers in front of him and sneak into the top spot with a 64 point advantage. Can he hang on for three more races and become the first rookie ever to win the AAA Championship? He certainly has the right team behind him to do it as X2X has won two of the last 3 AAA titles, 5 overall.

2nd #7 Kashvinder Mann, X2X Motorsports, 5803 points, -64, 2 win, 10 top 5’s, 15 top 10’s

Kash has been strong all season and came out in the chase to send a message, he’s back. Unfortunately a 47th at Charlotte and a 43rd at Talladega have cost him the point lead. However if Kash can get back into top form in the next 3 races he could overtake X1X to become only the 2nd two time AAA champion in Nasrac history (The first is Kevin Minnelli in seasons 5 & 7).

3rd RacerX, Sith Racing, 5797 points, -70, 3 wins, 8 top 5’s, 11 top 10’s

This season is RacerX’s third attempt at the championship after coming very close in season 9 he is trying to catch up to X1X and not be a runner up yet again. He has been somewhat inconsistent in the chase but coming off a win at Talladega he has launched himself right into the fight.

On the Bubble:

4th #4 Tim Reeve, 1Up/Bailey Motorsports, 5736 points, -131, 3 wins, 8 top 5’s, 10 top 10’s

Like Kash, Tim is another former champ dating back to Season 4 trying to become a two time champ. In a season filled with controversy he seemingly hasn’t allowed it to affect his performance as he is still in the hunt with three races to go.  His chase has a high point with a win at Dover but not scoring any other top 10s have hurt his chances to win the title, he will need to be strong in the last 3 if he wants to win his second title this season.

5th darthclay, Sith Racing, 5729 points, -138, 1 win, 6 top 5’s, 9 top 10’s

Darth made his name known that he was back in AAA this season after two season’s in AA, he was one of the top contenders going into the chase. His chase has resulted in only one top 10 but several top 20s that has kept him up in the points. It will take strong runs now to catch up to the leader if he wants to try and be the first Sith Racing driver to win the title.

6th Diego González, X2X Motorsports, 5700 points, -167, 1 win, 8 top 5’s, 13 top 10’s

Diego is going to need to pick it up if he is going to win the championship this season. It will take 3 near perfect races and some bad luck for the front runners for him to make up his current deficit.

Pretenders:

7th ThirdWave, Bupp Enterprises, 5606 points, -261, 1 win, 5 top 5’s, 9 top 10’s

Along with X1X Thirdwave is the other rookie in the chase. His chase hasn’t been one that will contend for the championship but for a rookie season it is very good, even if it is being overshadowed somewhat by X1X’s run for the title.

8th #99 Aflac99, Bupp Enterprises, 5595 points, -272, 2 wins, 6 top 5’s, 11 top 10’s

Aflac was considered one of the favorites going into the chase but has not been in contention at all. His hopes were marred with several 40 something finishes and only two top 10s dropping him back through the points. The Bupp team as a whole has not been strong in the chase.

9th #9 Phillip Bupp, Bupp Enterprises, 5514 points, -353, 0 wins, 0 top 5’s, 5 top 10’s

Phillip has not scored a single top 10 in the chase, his races have been consistently around 25th leaving him as nothing more than a field filler in the chase. His bid to try and become the second person to win the Daytona 500 and the AAA championship will have to wait another season.

10th #94 Black Mamba, X2X Motorsports, 5506 points, -361, 1 win, 4 top 5’s, 8 top 10’s

The season 8 champ has not fared so well in the chase this season after he took over leadership after Tim Reeve left the team mid season for 1Up/Bailey amid controversy. BM’s chase has not gone well other than a 9th place finish at Charlotte he has had only 1 other top 25 run in the chase. Maybe next season he can get title #2.

11th #21 Alan Snyder, Y & F Motorsports, 5502 points, -365, 0 wins, 1 top 5, 5 top 10’s

Alan made his first chase appearance in AAA since season 4, and it hasn’t gone particularly well for him with only 1 top 15 and alot of poor finishes, the best he can hope for on his retirement tour is to finish in the top 10 in points.

12th Flash, Bupp Enterprises, 5491 points, -376, 0 wins, 4 top 5’s, 7 top 10’s

Flash made a comeback this season after struggling last season. The season 9 champ was called the favorite from BE by owner Phillip Bupp but like the rest of the BE cars fizzled in the chase not picking up a single top 10. He and the rest of the BE team will have to use the off season to regroup and try to come up with a better strategy to try and win it all next season.
